Paul, Boosh Taliesin @BooshPemberton, has a great evening cheering on his beloved Seagulls against the visiting Seasiders.

The two seaside teams of the Cymru Premiership went head to head under the lights on a warm mid-September evening. Aber may have a bigger pier than Y Bae, but what Colwyn lacks in bedecked water protrusion, they make up for in tons of sand… and in their support.. A mute point between Colwyn Bay and neighbour’s Llandudno too.

A fantastic attendance this evening, just over 1000 roared the seagulls on to their first home win in the Cymru Prem. Bolstered by a late winner at Penybont last week, Steve Evans’ team came into the match with the 3 available points as their key goal. Aber with only 1 point in the league so far,’ are facing troubling times rooted to the bottom of the league.

Colwyn Bay started at a higher tempo attacking the visitors from the first whistle. Their pressure paid off, a free kick in the 12th min taken quickly found Tommy Creamer 25 yards out and cue the Tommy Creamer screamer. Tom, a supporters’ favourite, ran to the crowd and 1000 voices sang his praises. 1 – 0 Bay

Udi Akpan, a recent signing almost made it 2 – 0. The Aber keeper Sam Green ran out of his area and the ball bounced over his head. Akpans readjusted his positioning, but the shot just grazed the upright. Akpan has quickly become established in the squad; his work rate appreciated by the supporters.

Aber had a few good chances. The best, an Iwan Lewis shot, being deflected for a corner. The Bay defence was dogged, with Guto Williams at its heart .

At 27 minutes, a well weighted through ball from Jamie Cumming found Dan James, who scored his first goal for the Bay. 2 – 0

Just before half time, Iwan Lewis found the net for the visitors. A stunning drive from outside the box. 2 -1

The second half saw more of the same. The Bay pressing Aber hard, Akpan holding up the ball well, coming close a few more times. His work rate rewarded with a shot the keeper tried to keep out, but he could not claw it back from crossing the line 3 – 1.

Aber had one more decent chance with Harry Owen heading just over the bar. Colwyn Bay were in cruise control, a few more attempts on goal but came to naught.

The final score Colwyn Bay 3 – Aberystwyth 1

Colwyn Bay moving up the league, Aberystwyth still struggling.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening and what an atmosphere! This is exactly what the Cymru Premiership should be, big crowds with that big match feeling. A model for all clubs.
