2nd March JD Cymru Leagues Play Off Conf

Llanelain Rd

Att 422.

An early kick off meant a mad dash to get to the ground for many this chilly, grey Saturday. The weather a reflection the sombre mood of many of the seagulls supporters. The Bay the strongest team in the league in one regard only. The fact we are propping up the table, rooted oak like to the bottom of the league.

Haverfordwest tipped by many, after their European glory, to be a contender for 2nd position behind TNS now resigned to the play-off mini-league. Though, due to the nature of the Cymru Premier league setup, they could still find themselves facing a European adventure.

The Bay started brightly with Tommy Creamer & Kai Owen back in the starting 11; there seemed to be more purpose to their attacking formation. Early shots on the Bluebirds goal brought out some of the top quality saves that Haverfordwest’s Kiwi shot stopper Zac Jones is famed for.  It took about 20 minutes for the West Wales side to get into the game. This was the story of the first half both sides having half chances but with little reward.

As the second half started, much as the first left off, both sides attempting to build an attack but with little reward. Ex Cymru international Jaz Richards a rock at the heart of the bluebirds defence, matched by Sam Heart his opposite number for Bay.

Haverfordwest thought they had scored only for it to be ruled out for offside. The Bay had some near chances but to no avail. Tommy Creamer coming closest to breaking the deadlock with some lovely link up play with Dan Jones who came on for the final 25 mins.

By now the heavens had opened and both teams looked like they would rather be in a hot shower, as the game fizzled out.

The nil nil result seeming the fairest outcome. An important point for the Bay, Haverfordwest moving to the top of the Play Off Conference.
