Our reporter Paul, Boosh Taliesin @BooshPemberton, takes a look at a mixed week for the young Llandudno team.

Joy for Llandudno in the Cup

Welsh Blood Service league Cup North

Llandudno 1-0 Chirk AAA

Y Morfa Conwy

Friday 1st September

Match sweets, assorted mints

September is the new August, or so it seems. A warming breeze swept across Y Morfa, the sky a stunning crimson. Great condition of watching a football match there was a decent turn out to watch this League Cup North match. No official attendance figures were given, but I am saying just over 200.

With Jordan Hadaways Llandudno team still with no points on the board, languishing at the bottom of the Cymru North. Though with one win out of four Jack Ellis`s side, a win for either team tonight would have been a confidence booster to kick start their season.

Llandudno started sharper with a shot across the Chirk box in the 4rd minute. 60 seconds later a back-pass to the Chirk keeper & his failure to clear his line was pounced upon by Llandudno`s Harvey Bennett, running at the keeper, slipped the ball around him 1 – 0 Llandudno.

Chirk went on the offensive, forcing a grerat save from Joe Angus, between the sticks for Tudno. Chirk kept up the pressure with a shot from Max Mclaughlin parried away by Angus to the feet of Josh Evans for Chirk who let fly. Angus dived again pulling off a dramatic double save. Great play from the 17 year old.

The rest of the first half slipped in to a midfield battle of attrition, both sides having chances that came to nothing.

The second half came with fresh changes to the Llandudno squad. Brown off for Robinson Humphreys for Murtas. Llandudno hoping to add to their tally by injecting some more pace up front.

Chirk couldn’t find a way to break down this youthful Llandudno side a few niggly challenges resulted in two more yellow cards for Chirk players.

On the 60th min Jack Ellis rang the changes with Adam Williams on for Jack Edwards, Iwan Hardy for Max McLaughlin, Josh Phillips for Ryan Edwards and Jake Ellison off Regan Jones on. A very attack minded move. Peppering the Llandudno goal with shots. Joe Angus once again pulling off another double save as the ball rebounds off the crossbar.

Llandudno dug deep, Hadaways young side desperately hanging on to the lead/ In the 4th minute of time added on Josh Phillips received his second yellow and was sent for and early shower, Chirk still pummelled the Llandudno goal with the last action of the match a ball blocked on the line.

the final whistle rang out, signalled jubilation for Llandudno the players and supporters. I hope this acts as a building block for Llandudno`s season. Chirk will feel they may have won this, but I am sure a team of their quality will bounce back and stronger.

But in the league ….

Still no points for Seasiders

Llandudno 0 Guilsfield 2

Cymru North

Saturday 9th September

Y Morfa stadium

Llandudno are still search of that illusive first point in the league welcomed Guilsfield to Y Morfa. Buoyed on by a win in the cup, the Seasiders had hoped their luck had changed. still a relatively young side after an en-mass exodus of all the senior squad a week before the start of the season and with out a home 23 year old manager Hadaway had his work cut out.

The visitors today Guilsfield FC Powys, sitting mid-table in the Cymru North

Guilsfield set out their stall early on in th ematch with Jaymie Hyne taking on the two Llandudno central defenders though his hot was lacking any power. Llandudno answering with an attack on the left with a cross in from Mat Robinson that was well gathered by Robbie Williams in goal for Guilsfield.

Llandudno initial held their shape well in the first 10 minutes but as Guilsfield increased the pressure Llandudno became ragged. On the 31st min a ball from Jaymie Hynie met by Jake Cook saw the Llandudno defence open up and 1 – 0 Guilsfield.

If Llandudno lost their discipline, I am not sure Guilsfield ever had a plan they didn’t seem to have a formation, but oddly it worked well for them. The rest of the first half played out with the visitors dominant.

Llandudno came out for the second half and no real improvement, this is going to be a long season if they fail to improve. With little discernible shape and less discipline Llandudno struggled to force any impact on the second half. The visitors keeping up the pressure and coasting in too the latter stages of the 2nd half on the 87th min Jamie Hyne put the game beyond doubt 2 – 0 Guilsfield.
