Our roving reporter Paul, Boosh Taliesin @BooshPemberton, returns to y Morfa for a cup game.

Saturday saw the Celts maraud on to the Morfa. Hailing from the heart of Eryri, the Celts are in the North Wales Coast prem div.  Conwy went into this cup tie with a few key players missing due to work commitments. So, a make shift Borough side took to the pitch, with promising young keeper Brad Farrar rested today.

In an interesting twist on the match, both sides had to provide players to run the lines.  This led to some quality barracking of the ref by his fellow “pitch side officials” Now you won’t see that at Anfield or Old Trafford.

The Celts took the initiative from the start attacking Conwy; putting them under mounting pressure, that led to a free kick on the right of the home teams box. The ball driven in hard by Jac Jones, and the Conwy net bulged.  The Celts 1- 0 up in the 7th minute.

This set the tone for the first half. The visitors closing down Conwy at every opportunity. Goal scorer Jac Jones was running the show for the Celts. Talysarn`s No 9, Glynn Hughes Thomas attacked Conwy’s defence, with energetic runs through in to the box. Great support play by Luke Baum, with some deft through balls.

Conwy looked all at sea and limped through till the ref blew the half time whistle. Time for Anthony Weaver to have a chat with his Borough side.

Whatever Weaver said during the break worked, Conwy came out determined to change the tie. Looking rejuvenated by their half time brew they were much the livelier and more inventive side.

Talysarn looked a little jaded by their first half exertions, defending deeper and trying to absorb the pressure by a spirited Conwy. A Borough corner from the right hand flag, flew across the Celt box to be met by Anthony Marshall, Conwy 1 Talysarn Celts 1.

A pivotal moment for me was the introduction of Ethan Hill and Hayden Griffiths for Conwy. They injected more pace into the Conwy side. The Celts looking tired and mounting few incursions to the oppositions half, still valiant in defence.

81st minute on came Conwy fan favourite Tom Paddock. 4 minutes later in a scrambled clearance from Talysarn Paddock smashed home the winner.  Talysarn had one last chance to equalise with a free kick that just went straight through to the keeper.

Conwy progress to round 3, Talysarn Celts can be proud of the themselves, holding a side 2 leagues above them to a creditable result.

My Men of The Match goes to Celts Glyn Hughes Thomas, Anthony Marshall Conwy. Notable mention for Celts Sion Williams for first half running the line and shouting at the ref.
