With attention moving away from international football for a while, Paul Boosh Taliesin @BooshPemberton returns with a look the Cymru Prem clash at Llanelian Road.

Buoyed up a Welsh Cup penalty shoot out victory in Newtown and Cymru Prem win at Pontypridd, the Seagulls came into this match with a spring in their boots. Penybont though were keen to avenge the Bays 1-0 win at Parc Bryntirion .Y Bont have had a season plagued with injuries, but thankfully they’re now back up to full strength.

566 braved the cold, grey North Wales afternoon to welcome Rhys Griffiths`s team on their first visit to Colwyn Bay. As the teams walked out a pal commented “bloody hell they are big lads!”. Penybont have quite an imposing tall side, that suits their style of play. The majority of the first half was littered with half chances for both sides, with both keepers kept busy.

Y Bont having the best of the first half, multiple corners threatening the Bay box. In the 45th minute a corner for the Seagulls saw the ball in the back of the net, but a foul on the keeper was spotted by the ref. No goal!  Within a minute Penybont took the ball up the other end, earned another corner. A header from Bont`s top scorer Venables fell to Kenyon Reffell. 0 – 1 Penybont. A sucker punch for Colwyn Bay just on the stroke of half time.

The second half started with the lights coming on, a signal to motivate The Bay. That and Steve Evans team talk. Colwyn Bay were a team on a mission. An inspired 61st min substitution and Matty Hill entered the fray for the Bay. 8 mins later an assist from Jammie Cumming and Hill found the back of the net. 1- 1, game on.

The Bay took the game to Y Bont. A great ball from the right across the Penybont box and deft flick from Tommy Creamer was pounced on by Udy Akpan with a quality strike that sent the crowed wild. 2 – 1 Colwyn Bay, Akpans name ringing around the stadium.

The Bay were in their stride and strongly saw out the rest of the game. Lifting them out of the relegation zone and dropping Penybont into the bottom six.
