North Wales Women’s Recreational League.
Thurs 28th Nov ’24
Parc Erias
This season Colwyn Bay have re-established a senior Woman’s team, with the club signing up to Her Game Too Cymru. The league they play in is a recreational league, with matches split into three 20-minute thirds, on a half sized pitch with 8 outfield players and a keeper. The league has 9 teams with each team playing each other home and away.
This is my third time watching Colwyn Bay ladies, they now top the North Wales Recreational League and are on 6 game unbeaten run. Sadly they play most oif their games on a Sunday when im in work , but for midweek games I’m a regular.
Colwyn Bay took the lead in the 10th minute with a solid strike from Jaid Ang in what was a dominant performance by the home side. With Ashleigh Kite in the bay goal only tested once with high speculative shot. Hayley Gibson, the bay captain and Anna Jones were solid in midfield, roving forward to harry the Mochdre goal. The Mochdre defence battled hard but a top quality strike from Gibson added to the Bay tally.
Jodie Parry and Sian Roberts were threats on each wing, pinging balls across the box. The Mochdre keeper hang onto the ball for a moment too long and Anna Jones pounced almost netting another.
In the final 20 minutes Rachel Marland came on as a sub and made a massive impact. With a well weighted cross that found Jodie Parry in space and she finished with aplomb.
The Bay are now 5 points clear at the top, in what is a very competitive league.
