Colwyn Bay 5 Penybont 4
Cymru Premiership, Nov 29th ’25
Blue Turtle Arena, Llanelian Rd. Attendance 706
The visitors are second in the Cymru Prem, Rhys Griffiths has build a strong side in Penybont. They have progressed up the League season upon season, each year improving with a philosophy of togetherness & hard pressing, attractive, attacking football.
Mike Wilde and assistant Danny Harrison have this Colwyn Bay side ticking over nicely, with the second best defence in the league/ They’ve established a hard battling midfield, but are still somewhat lacking firepower upfront.
The heavens opened just before kick off & hardly stopped for the game. Torrential rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the 706 attendees .

The home side stated their intentions with a 6th min goal from Jamie Cummings ably assisted by fans favourite Matty Hill. Not to be outdone Kane Owen set up James Crole to equalise 2 mins later for the visitors.
This set the tone for an absolute thriller of a game. 60 seconds later Sol Forde put The Seagulls back in front again.
On the stroke of 20 minutes, Jordan Davies added to the Bays tally. This was the beginning of a hatrick that will be talked about for quite some time. His first being a possible contender for goal of the season. He added his second just before half an hour.
Penybont are a great attacking side, but have looked so very vulnerable at the back all season. They did pull one back just before the half time whistle when a cross from the left landed in the box, stuck in the mud and before being slotted home by Mael Davies .

No let up in the weather for the second half, or Bay’s attacking football either. Jordan Davies completing his hatrick in the 48th min. Making it 5 – 2 and job done… the Bay fans hoped.
Never write off a Rhys Griffiths side, Bont rallied with some inspired substitutions, peppering the bay box and battling in the midfield. The Bay faithful were relived when the fourth official indicated just 3 minutes of extra time. Not just because of the appalling weather, but Penybont were pushing harder. On 91 mins Ioan player Phillips raised Penybont hopes, and again in the 93rd min. Another two minutes of time added on could have seen this match drawn, but the Bay held on for a 5-4 win. .
Colwyn Bay have strengthened this hold for a top six spot , Penybont still sit second with Europe beckoning .
Battle of the Bays
Colwyn Bay Ladies 5 Kinmel Bay Ladies 0
North Wales Recreational League, Nov 27th ’25
Parc Erias Colwyn Bay. Played over three 20 minute thirds.
Kinmel Bay are sitting mid table, due to some hard-fought draws. The Bay runaway league leaders, still undefeated and are going from strength to strength.

A string start from the home side, with Sam O’Carroll scoring two top draw goals in the first 7 minutes. With their intentions set Jodie Parry made it 3-0 just before the end of the third. Ffion Morris having a great game setting up two of the goals.
Kinmel Bay seemed to be still stunned and offered little in the next 20 minutes. Sophie Heap adding to their woes with two net busting strikes. And Heap has really hit a purple patch this season, capitalising on the promise shown at the end of the previous League winning season.

In the final 20 minutes, Kinmel Bay finally found another gear and played some attractive football, but the home side knew how to nullify their attacks and showed great game management.
This Bay side have really kicked on since last season. They have grown in deadly striking efficiency and top-quality passing. This is a side who can get better.
