Colwyn Bay 1 Connah’s Quay Nomads 1
Cymru Premiership Llanelian Rd, Sunday 10th August 2025

Colwyn Bay had quite a welcome back to the Cymru Prem with a hard-fought draw against a well drilled physical Nomads side.
A 5pm Sunday kick off under blue skies drew over 1500 to Llanelian Rd, eager to see how Mike Wilde’s new look Bay side would perform in the top tier of Cymru football. The fixture saw two ex-league winning Nomads team mates do battle as rival managers, as John Disney has taken the hot seat at Connah’s Quay.

The first half started brightly with both sides having early chances to open the scoring with Max Woodcock testing Rhys Williams between the sticks for the Bay with a close range effort. Then it Was the turn of the new signing for the Seagulls Jordan Davies who lashed a shot at the Nomads goal, only to be denied by the impressive young keeper Kit Margetson. In the 21st minute a glorious volley from another new bay signing Aaron Williams just skimmed the post to go wide.
The deadlock was broken with a superb cross from Woodcock that found Oswell who avoided the home side defence to give the visitors the lead. Undeterred the Bay forged forward and were rewarded in the 36th minute when Sol Forde found Nathan Pete, with a driven header into the bottom corner of the visitor’s goal.

The second half continued in the same vein, with both sides battling hard to find that winning goal. Sol Forde thought he had win it for the home side with a tap in, but it was disallowed for a foul on the keeper by another new signing the Cymru prem legend that is Louis Robles.
As the game came to its natural conclusion, both sides fighting for the ball. The atmosphere at Llanelian Rd was electric the support as vocal as ever. The draw seemed a fair result and I think both sides can come away with pride in a job well done and for the Bay, this is the level we need to attain throughout the season
