Colwyn Bay 6 Airbus UK Broughton FC 3

Cymru North, Friday 27th Sept, Llanelien Rd, Att 772

Airbus came to Llanelien Rd with 13 league wins under their belt, and the favourites for the Friday evening fixture. The Bay have finally found form after a shaky start to the season on a 5 game wining streak. A mouthwatering top of the table clash that did not disappoint the 772 spectators who braved a chilly late September evening.

Airbus were hot off the blocks, from the ref’s whistle. Sam Baker harassing a beleaguered Seagulls  defence with confident runs along the right wing, cutting in to the centre to bamboozle the Bays centerbacks. His hard work soon rewarded as he passed the ball across the stranded keeper making it 0-1 Wingmen.

The Bay looked all at sea for the first 20 minuets, trying to absorb the fast paced pressure from Airbus. Then in the 37th min a top quality goal from top goal scorer Craig Linfield lifted the home side 1 – 1 . They looked rejuvenated , birthday boy and fan favourite Tommy Creamer came close to putting the Bay ahead minutes later forcing a great save from Mitch Jones. Only for it to be thundered home by Jay Owen 2-1 The Bay. Airbus hanging on till half time.

Colwyn Bay came out the more determined side, for the second half and within 5 minuets a goal mouth scramble from a bay corner saw Linfield get his second of the evening. The Seagulls looked magnificent, but never write off Airbus. A goal from Dan Warren and equaliser from Jordan Evans in the space of 7 minutes tried silence the Colwyn Bay faithful. The goals roused the crowd and the crowd their team. From that moment on The Bay were imperious. Not happy for a draw the home team found another gear.

Cometh the hour cometh the man on 70 mins Craig Linfield netted this hat trick with a simple tap in 4- 3. Tom Marsh Hughes replaced Linfield, chasing down a back pass to Jones in the Airbus goal beat the stranded keeper to make it 5-3. the volume in the ground at ear busting levels. With 96 minutes on the clock Gwion Dafydd, on loan from TNS, was brought on to run down the clock. The fans baying for the ref to blow up, Dafydd picked up a ball from marsh Hughes and boom 6 – 3 , an easy tap in. The ref called time and the Bay loyal following went wild.

A fantastic game with both side playing their part, with quality football. The atmosphere at Llanelien rd absolutely electric. The perfect advewrti3ement for Cymru Leagues football.

The Bay have found their form and now second in the league, chasing down Airbus in first.
